A solo project that brings comic books to the VR. Supports all comic book formats (CBR/CBZ/etc.), PDFs, and EPubs.

Supports standard reader features (library, multiple page layouts, auto-rotation, goto page, etc.). It also features a custom file browser that displays file covers. UI is made using Oculus OS components, and a major rework is underway from the placeholder UI that is seen in the video.

I created an import and load pipeline. PDFs and Epubs are rendered at runtime, and comic books are processed to save on space and keep the importing times to a minimum. Most stuff is done on the background threads, allowing the user to read huge files (>500 page epubs, 3gb comic books) in a matter of seconds and with no hiccups.

It supports passthrough mode, custom environments, and locomotion.
All interactions can be done using both hands and controllers.
The user can import files by either: downloading them using a built in web browser, by connecting another device to the local network, or browsing from a disk
